Mock halo catalogues: assigning unresolved halo properties using correlations with local halo environment

چکیده

Large-scale sky surveys require companion large volume simulated mock catalogs. To ensure precision cosmology studies are unbiased, the correlations in these mocks between galaxy properties and their large-scale environments must be realistic. Since galaxies embedded dark matter halos, an important first step is to include such -- sometimes called assembly bias for halos. However, correlate with smaller scale physics halos which simulations struggle resolve. We describe algorithm addresses largely mitigates this problem. Our exploits fact that halo unchanged as long property $c$ intermediate-scale tidal environment $\alpha$ preserved. Therefore, knowledge of sufficient assign small-scale, otherwise unresolved a way preserves its accurately. demonstrate explicitly internal like formation history (concentration $c_{\rm 200b}$), shape $c/a$, dynamics $c_{v}/a_{v}$, velocity anisotropy $\beta$ angular momentum (spin $\lambda$). increases simulation's reach mass number density by order magnitude, improvements signal 45% 30-particle thus significantly reducing cost future weak lensing redshift space distortion studies.

Pairing Correlations in Halo Nuclei

Paring correlations in weakly bound halo nuclei He and Li are studied by using a threebody model with a density-dependent contact interaction. We investigate the spatial structure of two-neutron wave function in a Borromean nucleus Li. The behavior of the neutron pair at different densities is simulated by calculating the two-neutron wave function at several distances between the core nucleus L...

The halo by halo missing baryon problem

The global missing baryon problem — that the sum of observed baryons falls short of the number expected form BBN — is well known. In addition to this, there is also a local missing baryon problem that applies to individual dark matter halos. This halo by halo missing baryon problem is such that the observed mass fraction of baryons in individual galaxies falls short of the cosmic baryon fractio...

Halo correlations in nonlinear cosmic density fields

The question we address in this paper is the determination of the correlation properties of the dark matter halos appearing in cosmic density fields once they underwent a strongly nonlinear evolution induced by gravitational dynamics. A series of previous works have given indications that kind of nonGaussian features are induced by nonlinear evolution in term of the high-order correlation funct...

The galaxy–dark matter halo connection: which galaxy properties are correlated with the host halo mass?

We demonstrate how the properties of a galaxy depend on the mass of its host dark matter subhalo, using two independent models of galaxy formation. For the cases of stellar mass and black holemass, themedian property value displays amonotonic dependence on subhalomass. The slope of the relation changes for subhalomasses for which heating by active galactic nuclei becomes important. The median p...
